Andrew Kent, a nightclub DJ and former Gorseinon College student lost his life in the early hours of Bank Holiday Monday - 05 May 2008
Andrew's cousin Lisa Lazarus, a former Ysgol y Gwendraeth pupil, heard the terrible news while she was celebrating winning the Miss Universe UK beauty pageant in London.
"I'm dedicating my title to his memory," she said.
Andrew Kent, 21, from the Manselton area of Swansea worked with the city's Youth Offending Team at Cockett.
Mr Kent's family said he had recently won a young achiever award for youth work in the Swansea area.
"He will be sadly missed by all his friends and family in the Manselton and Ammanford areas," they said in a statement.
The music will fade at a packed nightclub on Saturday as clubbers pay a special tribute to one of their own.A minute's applause will ring out at Ty-Coch nightclub in memory of Andrew Kent, who died in a car crash in the early hours of Monday.
Mr Kent, known to clubbers as DJ Kentzy, should have been on the decks at the Ammanford club on Saturday night.
Friend, DJ and music promoter Rhys Williams said: "He was really looking forward to it.
"He had only just started DJ-ing. He helped kids for his day job.
"We are going to dedicate the night to him on Saturday and play his favourite tracks.
"There's also going to be a book for people to sign."
And Mr Williams, whose DJ name is Last of the Mohicans, will turn down the volume for what is bound to be an emotional 60 seconds.
"We will have a minute's applause for him during my set," said the 26-year-old, of Sandfields.
He described Mr Kent, of Manselton, as a friendly and polite young man who had a passion for music. "He was one of the most genuine guys I have ever met," he said.
Ty-Coch club owner David Griffiths said Mr Kent was an example to everyone.
"He was always happy, and ever willing to help," he said.
Dozens of clubbers have expressed their shock and sadness about the 21-year-old's death on website forums.
One said: "Rest in peace man, see you in the rave in the sky, thoughts go out to friends and family."
Another wrote: "This is terrible news. This lad was by far one of the nicest guys I've ever spoken to."
Becky Grove, of Townhill, used to work with Mr Kent at the former Quids Inn nightclub, on The Kingsway, Swansea.
She and pal Adam Farrell told the Post: "We used to call him 'party boy'. He was a star."
Yesterday, Mr Kent's bosses at the Swansea Youth Offending Team paid tribute to his ability to inspire young people. His efforts earned him a Swansea Bay Young Achiever award last year.
